Our First Excursion

Hola folks! These last few days have been absolutely heavenly. After a week of hard but rewarding work, we packed up our bags and headed west towards the coast. During the excursion we stayed in an eco-lodge nestled in the lush mountains above the sea: our very own paradise! We woke up each day to turquoise waters in front of us, with a private beach only a 10 minute walk away. We spent our free time swimming, playing frisbee and soccer on the sand, spotting howler monkeys, toucans, and boa constrictors, and exploring caves in the cliffs. Our more organized activities included surf lessons (every student stood up and rode at least one wave by the end of it) and horseback riding. The horses took us on a 3-hour walk through the jungle to a secluded waterfall, where we all jumped in the icy water and splashed the afternoon away. Our adventures were fueled by the incredible 3-course meals we would have each day at our lodge, and each night we would watch the sky turn bright orange as the sun set over the ocean. There was ample time to read in rocking chairs overlooking the mountains, play card games beneath the palm trees, and stargaze on our porch. Now that we are all well-rested and relaxed, it is time for another week of service at our home base of Biolley. Check in soon for another update in a few days! Pura vida!
